Project Description

Learning objectives

Internet-based distributed simulation systems provide a flexible and low-cost solution to deal with the computational, interoperability and scalability properties required by modern simulation scenarios, without the need of using costly and complex dedicated platforms. The main objective of this course is to introduce the methods for Internet-based distributed simulation, illustrate the relevant simulation paradigms and technologies, and finally design and implement a case study.

Course content

The local simulation  paradigm; The distributed simulation paradigm; Locally and geographically distributed simulation; Middleware for distributed; simulation: HLA and SimArch; Design and development in Java+HLA; Design and development in SimArch; Amdhal’s law in distributed simulation; Speedup analysis; Distributed simulation in-the-loop
